Star drivers arrive for 6 Hours of Bahrain
Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) began to welcome the first group of star drivers who will be in action on Friday and Saturday at the FIA WEC 6 Hours of Bahrain.
WEC drivers Brendon Hartley of Porsche Team, Kazuki Nakajima of Toyota Racing and Luis-Felipe Derani of G-Drive; along with GP2 drivers Jordan King of Racing Engineering and Andre Negrao of Arden arrived for the eighth and final round of the 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Aside from the WEC, the support programme features the GP2 Series, GP3 Series, the Bahrain-bred Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East and the India-based MRF Challenge.
More drivers, team members and officials are scheduled to continue arriving all the time.
Preparations continued across BIC ahead of Thursday’s start to racing, with action beginning with two practices for the WEC that day, followed by another session on Friday along with qualifying, followed on Saturday with the 6 Hours of Bahrain flagging off at 3pm during daylight hours and concluding at 9pm under the floodlights.
Following this year’s 6 Hours of Bahrain on Saturday, an official WEC Rookie Test will be held on Sunday at BIC.
The one-day event marks the end of the 2015 FIA WEC season and the sessions run from 10 am to 12 noon and from 1 pm to 4 pm.
It will be the first time Bahrain is hosting a multi- team test for the FIA WEC.
