Bahrain’s junior national handball team posted a fine 32-22 victory over their counterparts from Saudi Arabia yesterday in an international friendly match played in Qatif.

The game was part of both teams’ preparations for their upcoming participation in the 2023 IHF Men’s Junior World Championship, which will be held in Germany and Greece from June 20 to July 2.

It was the second tune-up in as many days for the Gulf sides. Bahrain also won their first meeting on Saturday 36-26.

At the end of yesterday’s match, Bahrain Handball Association board member Abdulrazzaq Khalil exchanged commemorative shields with Saudi Arabian Handball Federation board member Ali Aliwat as tokens of appreciation for holding the friendlies.

Bahrain is coached by Essam Abdulla and his assistant Raed Al Marzouq.

With their warm-up games complete, the nationals are scheduled to travel to Athens for an overseas training camp prior to participating in the world championship.

There, they are also set to play warmup games against Greece, Morocco and a European team participating in the global event.

Bahrain are among 32 nations taking part in the worlds, which are set to be held across five host cities.

The nationals are in Group F, alongside Sweden, Slovenia and Greenland, who have replaced Guinea as participants.
