Bahrain’s elite sprinter and 2019 world champion Salwa Eid Naser continued her impressive form this outdoor athletics season with a strong third-place finish at the high-profile Meeting de Paris event in France.
Salwa was competing amongst the world’s best in the women’s 400 metres at the Wanda Diamond League event.
She completed her race in 49.95 seconds, not far behind winner Marileidy Paulino of the Dominican Republic, who finished in 49.12s.
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone of the US was the runner-up, just ahead of Salwa in 49.95s.
Salwa’s time was not far from her season’s best of 49.78s, which she clocked just last week in Spain.
Her time was her second-fastest of the year and it was only the second time she ran the distance in under 50 seconds. Salwa was the lone Bahraini athlete competing in Paris.
She continues to get ready for her major competitions this season, including the World Athletics Championships in Budapest this August, and the Hangzhou Asian Games in China this September and October.
The 25-year-old is one of the Kingdom’s leading international athletes.
Aside from her women’s 400m world title which she won in 2019, Salwa is also an Olympic Games silver-medallist and a former world junior champion, both in the same distance.
