BTC junior champions crowned

Bahrain Tennis Club (BTC) crowned the champions of this year’s BTC Juniors Tennis Tournament following the final day of play on Monday.

Brando Estripeau of Italy was the winner of the under-10 open singles; Hakesh Vasanth from India won the under-12 open singles; Riyaan Ahmed, also from India, won the under-14 open singles crown; and Alston D’Souza from India claimed the under-18 open singles title.

Brando beat Chavan Charu of India 6-2 to claim his victory. Hakesh overcame a tough challenge from compatriot Rehanna Aju Abraham 7-6 (5), 6-4 to win the under-12 class.

Riyaan defeated Marwan Safi of Canada 6-0, 6-1 in the under-14 category, while Alston beat Andrei Cifra of the Philippines 6-2, 6-1 to win the under-18 category.

The tournament intended to hone the BTC’s junior players and increase their skills and gaining experience in playing tournaments.

After the matches, BTC president Khamis Al Muqla, BTC Sports Committee head Abdullatif Mohammed Ahmed and BTC financial controller Khalid Ghuloom presented cups and prizes to the winners.
