HH Shaikh Nasser mourns Bahrain Victorious cyclist, Gino Mader

HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has offered his deepest condolences and sympathy to the family and Team Bahrain Victorious following the passing of the team’s cyclist, the Swiss Gino Mader, as a result of a very serious crash during stage 5 of the Tour de Suisse.

HH Shaikh Nasser posted news of the death of the late Team Bahrain Victorious cyclist, along with his photo, on his Instagram account. 

HH Shaikh Nasser recalled the contributions of the late cyclist to the team’s positive results throughout his career with it, citing his success in winning Stage 6 of the Giro d'Italia.

Team Bahrain Victorious issued a statement mourning its late cyclist, and giving details of the tragic accident.

“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we have to announce the passing of Gino Mader. On Friday 16th June, following a very serious crash during stage 5 of the Tour de Suisse, Gino lost his battle to recover from the severe injuries he sustained.

Our entire team is devastated by this tragic accident, and our thoughts and prayers are with Gino’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement said.
