Can lightning strike twice? The answer seems to be: yes! After introducing to the Mixed Martial Arts scene the phenomenal Khamzat “Borz” Chimaev a few years ago, BRAVE Combat Federation just presented Khamzat “Borz” Maaev to fans around the world.

On Monday, BRAVE CF fans were treated with a bit of a flashback as Khamzat Maaev made his debut at BRAVE CF 71, when he took on Lebanon’s own Elias Farah.

It was in the same Bahrain that nearly five years ago, Khamzat Chimaev would kickstart his international career.

At the time, Chimaev beat Marko Kisic in less than a round, setting up a tremendous run under BRAVE CF that would turn him into a superstar.

Now, Maaev is set to follow the footsteps of his idol, and the comparisons have made him go viral following his first BRAVE CF win.

Any questions about Khamzat’s capabilities remained unanswered for only a few seconds.

Maaev opened up really strong and put the pressure on Elias Farah.

The Lebanese attempted a single-leg takedown which was promptly denied.

The punishment was severe. Khamzat unloaded powerful hammerfists and elbows to Farah’s head.

The referee stoppage came at 41 second, marking the fourth time Maaev won within the first round.

Asked about the similarities between him and the almost namesake, Maaev was succinct and objective.

“I want to be the same… or actually even better than Khamzat Chimaev!”
