Manama and Muharraq resume their battle today for this year’s title in the 2022/2023 Z a i n Bahrain Basket ball League.

The best-of-five championship series took a brief hiatus to allow for Manama to participate in the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) Final Eight in Dubai—which they won and became the tournament’s first-ever champions.

Manama are now hoping to add another trophy to their fantastic season, which also includes Khalifa bin Salman Cup—the coveted trophy they also won against Muharraq last month.

The league’s defending champions hold a 2-0 lead in the finals match-up, with Manama taking game one 93-85 and then cementing their series advantage with a 104-100 triumph in game two.

Muharraq will be hoping to extend the finals to a fourth game, which will be played on Monday, and then, if needed, a decisive fifth game on June 30.

Muharraq will be taking to the hardwood for the first time under recently signed head coach Ahmed Jan, the former coach of Al Ahli.

Tonight’s contest is scheduled for a 7pm tip-off at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Isa Town.

Manama hold the record for most titles in the Bahrain league, having claimed the coveted championship 23 times in the past, including last season’s crown.

Muharraq have won the title thrice: in the 2007/2008 season, as well as in 2011/2012 and 2018/2019.
