Bahrainis Zeyad, Aqeel put in solid results

Bahrainis Zeyad Al Awadhi and Aqeel Al Awadhi had solid outings yesterday in the singles competition of the 21st Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships, taking place in Bangkok.

Competing in the third and final squad, Zeyad came 16th while Aqeel was 18th. On the combined rankings with the first two squads, Zeyad was placed 39th and Aqeel 52nd, while teammates Rashid Al Daihan was 35th and Ahmed Al Ansari 45th.

In yesterday’s play, Zeyad posted a total of 1,114 pinfalls for a 185.67 average. Aqeel came close to matching his output, finishing with 1,072 pins for a 178.67 average. Rashid had earlier registered marks of 1,138 and 189.67 with Ahmed scoring 1,084 and 180.67.

Taking the singles gold medal was Lan Shao Kang of Chinese-Taipei with a 1,362 total and 227.00 average.

Muhammad Hariz Adlan Azman of Malaysia won the silver medal with 1,349 and 224.83 scores, while Vilinkorn Kiedkaew of Thailand completed the podium placers with a 1,329 total and 221.50 average. All four Bahrainis are set to compete in the boys’ doubles squads today.
