Youth bowlers put in solid showing in doubles event

Bahrain’s bowlers were ranked 23rd and 29th among 33 pairings in the boys’ doubles at the 21st Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships, taking place in Bangkok.

The duo of Rashid Al Daihan and Aqeel Al Awadhi combined for a 2,219 total and 184.92 average in their six-game series to rank 23rd.

Aqeel had individual marks of 1,133 and 188.83, while Rashid had a total of 1,086 and an average of 181.00. Bahrain’s other tandem of Ahmed Al Ansari and Zeyad Al Awadhi had a combined total of 2,146 pins for a 178.83 average in 29th place.

Ahmed scored a personal total of 1,090 for a 181.67 average, while Zeyad had marks of 1,056 and 176.00. The Korean pair of Baek Seungwoo and Park Soowan won the gold medals with a 2,600 combined total and 216.67 average.

Malaysia’s Tsen Fan Yew and Muhammad Hariz Azman were the silver medalists on scores of 2,518 and 209.83, while countrymen Muhammad Danial Abu Samah and Syabil-Azam Syamsul-Azam took the bronze with a 2,511 total and 209.25 average. The championships now move to the team of four event today and tomorrow.
