Cyclists add two medals for Bahrain at Arab Games

Bahrain captured an additional two medals yesterday, both in cycling, at the 15th Arab Games in Algeria. Top riders Ahmed Madan and Ahmed Naser clinched the silver and bronze medals in the men’s individual time trial.
Madan completed the event’s 29.8-kilometre distance in a time of 42 minutes 22 seconds, while Naser had a mark of 42:26. They had times not far behind gold-medallist Mohcine Elkouraji of Morocco, who took first place in 41:27.
A total of 13 riders competed in the event, with only two not finishing. Madan and Naser bagged Bahrain’s first medals in cycling at the Arab Games. Their two medals brought Bahrain’s tally to 35 in all sports so far.
These include 16 gold medals, 10 silver medals and nine bronze medals. Two of the medals Bahrain have won were in athletics for people of determination. These were gold by Elias Alyas[1]si and silver by Amal Fardan. The medals won in this sport are not counted on the over[1]all table for the nations’ final classification.
