Bahrain to face Philippines in elimination game

Bahrain’s senior men’s national volleyball team will today be facing their counterparts from the Philippines in the final 12 of the fourth AVC Men Challenger, currently being held in Chinese-Taipei.
The fixture is an elimination affair, scheduled to get underway at 5am, Bahrain time. Today’s winner will move on to the quarter-finals to face the victor of the other final 12 contest between Australia and Macau.
The loser will play in the consolation bracket. The Bahrainis advanced to the competition’s final 12 as Pool F runners-up, defeating Sri Lanka in their first game but then losing a five-set thriller to Indonesia in their second.
The Philippines, meanwhile, won both their Pool D clashes, first defeating Macau and then taking a five-setter against Mongolia. The other games in the final 12 see the Mongolians face South Korea, Indonesia play Kazakhstan, Hong Kong go up against Thailand and Chinese-Taipei face Vietnam.
The Bahrain team in the tournament includes Mohammed Yaqoob, Mahmood Al Afia, Ali Habib, Nasser Anan, Mahmood Abdulhussain, Mahmoud Abdulwahed, Ali Ebrahim, Ebrahim Mohammed, Abbas Al Khabbaz, Mohammed Jassim, Mohammed Omar, Hani Ali, Ayman HAroona and Abbas Sultan. They are being guided by head coach Ruben Adrian Wolochin from Argentina.
