Bahrain Victorious on Tour de France podium

Team Bahrain Victorious claimed a podium finish yesterday in the teams’ final ranking at the 2023 Tour de France.

The squad were ranked third overall on the general classification, 22 minutes behind Jumbo-Visma in first place after a total of 3,401.3km. UAE Team Emirates came second.

Meanwhile, Bahrain Victorious rider Pello Bilbao claimed a top 10 finish on the individual general ranking. Bilbao placed sixth overall at the end of the 21-stage event. He was 80th in yesterday’s final leg, finishing nearly a minute behind the winner Jordi Meeus after 115.1 kilometres.

Fred Wright was Bahrain Victorious’ top finisher yesterday in 20th place, followed by Matej Mohoric in 40th and Nikias Arndt in 60th. Mikel Landa was classified just behind Bilbao in 81st, while Wout Poels came 97th and Jack Haig 122nd in the final stage.

Bilbao was the team’s only rider in the top 10 in the general classification. Landa was 19th while Poels and Haig came 27th and 28th, respectively. Mohoric was 72nd, Wright 92nd and Arndt 121st.

Mohoric and Bilbao were also in the top 10 of the points ranking in eighth and ninth places. Jumbo - Visma’s Jonas Vingegaard won back-to-back titles after finishing safely in the main bunch yesterday.
