Makovsky, who turned 40 earlier this year, hopes to break a two-fight losing streak when he heads to the Colombian capital to battle Flavio de Queiroz. The former Bellator world champion has all the credentials needed to thrive in BRAVE Combat Federation as a former Division I wrestler, and you can bet ‘Fun Size’ won’t have any trepidation after 17 years in the sport of mixed martial arts. The Pennsylvania native was born in Bethlehem back in 1983, and from a young age, it was clear to see that he was part of a talented family. His parents supported his wrestling career alongside his sister’s desire to become a gymnast, but it’s safe to say they weren’t overly thrilled about the idea of him entering hand-to-hand combat. While they tried to dissuade him, Zach fell in love with martial arts movies and found himself inspired to follow that same path. He was initially placed in a taekwondo class, and after making his way through the belts, he realised that if he wanted to take that next step, he needed to learn how to fight. Makovsky has been there and done it all in a handful of major promotions, but now, he has some real adversity to overcome. His flyweight venture hasn’t quite been going to plan and if there’s going to be a second mountain for him in his career, it has to come sooner rather than later.
