BRAVE CF 73 will see the clash of generations and styles when two of the best 125-pound athletes compete in the co-main event in Bogota, Colombia, on August 12.

USA’s Zach “Fun Size” Makovsky and Brazil’s Flavio “Flavinho” Queiroz, are set for a collision course in what will become Colombia’s biggest mixed martial arts event yet, and the stakes are high.

With former top contenders Jose Torres and Velimurad Alkhasov shifting to Bantamweight, the road to the title is now wide open, and Makovsky and Queiroz have it all to compete for. In an “old school vs new school” clash 40-year-old Makovsky and 31-year-old Queiroz will meet inside the BRAVE CF cage next Saturday.

Makovsky started his martial arts journey before his upcoming opponent was born. Like many young American boys, Makovsky found a love for wrestling at the age of six and eventually became the captain of his D1 college wrestling team.

The FILA Grappling World Champion transitioned beautifully into MMA while training with fellow global MMA superstar Eddie Alvarez in Philadelphia. Makovsky did well to understand his strengths, utilizing them to the best of his ability.

Since making the full-time switch to MMA in 2006, Makovsky’s wrestling base has not failed him. With 21 wins in 32 fights, “Fun Size” dominated opponents in various top promotions using his quick movement, excellent distance management, and high-level grappling.

After joining the most-global MMA promotion, he is yet to find his momentum with only one win and two close split-decision losses - one of which saw him fall out of the grand BRAVE CF Flyweight Tournament following a defeat to Alkhasov at BRAVE CF 50.

Despite his recent setbacks, Makovsky remains obsessed about the BRAVE CF title and is hungrier than ever to clinch the golden strap. He begins a new quest for the title next week in a run that could be his last shot at a global title - and he knows that he will have to dig deep and summon all his power and ability when he meets one of Brazil’s most exciting athletes.

Queiroz started his career as a stand-up fighter in Montes Verdes, Minas Gerais state, competing in Muay Thai before earning his Black Belt. After ten wins and only two losses in mixed martial arts, “Flavinho” was encouraged by the former BRAVE CF champion Lucas Mineiro to aggressively pursue his MMA career instead, as the former Lightweight champion saw something special in him.

Not long after, he got the call to make his BRAVE CF debut in a short-notice fight at BRAVE CF 25. He wasted no time proving his worth on the fastest-growing MMA platform and submitted Jean Felipe Souze in the first round.

With two wins and two losses under the BRAVE CF banner, Queiroz has only lost to top contenders, including Velimurad Alkhasov and Azat Maksum. His latest bout saw him bounce back with a huge KO victory over Igor Taylon at BRAVE CF 60.

Queiroz made history when he became the first Thunder Fight Flyweight champion in 2018 and now aims to go full throttle and make more history by becoming the first BRAVE CF Flyweight champion.

With Makovsky being the grinder and Flavio being the natural stand-up athlete, BRAVE Nation fans are in for an exciting match-up. Makovsky might be quicker and have better distance management and wrestling, but Flavio - who also has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - hits harder, is harder to take down, and has an overall better striking game.
