Scores of fans flocked to Bahrain yesterday to catch a glimpse of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy, which kicked off its tour of the country.

The tour began at Al-Najma Club in Juffair, where a motorbike parade by Desi Riders and a decorated bus with Bahrain’s men's and women’s cricket teams kicked things off.

The procession then made its way to the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), where fans had the opportunity to take selfies with the trophy.

The Chief Executive of Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), Sheikh Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, and Bahrain Cricket Federation (BCF) chairman Mohammed Mansoor attended the event at the BIC.

"BCF’s vision is to promote Bahrain cricket and play in the World Cup very soon," Mohammed Mansour told the Daily Tribune.

He said that the tour was a great opportunity to showcase the sport to the people of Bahrain, and he thanked the ICC for bringing the trophy to the country.

The tour has generated a lot of excitement and interest in the sport, and it is hoped that it will help inspire a new generation of Bahraini cricketers, officials said.

The ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will be held in India from October 5 to November 19, 2023.

Bahrain has not yet qualified for the tournament, but the tour is a sign of the growing popularity of cricket in the country.
