Bahrain’s youth national volleyball team last night powered into the gold medal match of the inaugural West Asia Men’s U19 Volleyball Championship 2023, currently being held in Jeddah.

The nationals secured their berth after cruising past Kuwait 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-16) with a fine semi-final performance.

The Bahrainis will now take on hosts Saudi Arabia in the title contest.

The Saudis booked their berth after beating Lebanon 3-1 (25-19, 25-19, 17-25, 25- 15) in yesterday’s other fixture in the final four. Bahrain maintained their undefeated record in the competition with their win against the Kuwaitis yesterday.

They had previously swept their three games in the group stage before beating Qatar in the quarter-finals.

They then ousted Kuwait for the second time in the tournament, and will now be hoping to clinch the event’s first-ever crown. Kuwait and Lebanon will battle for the bronze medals.
