Bahrain lost to Serbian professional football club FK Radnicki Sremska Mitrovica 2-3 yesterday in a friendly match played as part of the senior men’s national team’s ongoing training camp in Belgrade.
Ebrahim Al Khattal and Ahmed Moussa were both on target for the Bahrainis in the defeat.
The game was one of a number of tune-ups the nationals are expected to play against local opposition during their time in the Serbian capital.
The nationals are scheduled to be there until 2 September, after which they will fly to Dubai where they will play two international friendlies.
They will first go against Kuwait on 7 September and then with Turkmenistan on 12 September.
The Bahrainis will also play two more exhibition games in October, both at home. They will lock horns with the Philippines men’s national team on 12 October and then against Kyrgyzstan on 17 October.
The nationals are gearing up for their upcoming continental qualifying campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, starting this November.
Bahrain are also preparing for the next edition of the AFC Asian Cup, to be held in Doha in January of next year.
