U19 spikers set for West Asian final

Bahrain take on Saudi Arabia this evening for the gold medals in the inaugural West Asia Men’s U19 Volleyball Championship 2023, being held in Jeddah.
The tournament final is scheduled for a 5pm start, Bahrain time.
The nationals secured their berth in the title contest after cruising past Kuwait with a straight-sets shutout in the semi-finals.
The Saudis, meanwhile, needed four sets to defeat Lebanon in their final-four fixture. Bahrain head into the gold medal game as the only undefeated team remaining in the competition. The Saudis have one loss from the preliminary round.
The nationals had previously swept their three games in the group stage before beating Qatar in the quarter-finals and then ousting Kuwait.
In other games today, Kuwait and Lebanon will battle for the bronze medals at 3pm. Jordan and the UAE will play for fifth place overall at 1pm, while Qatar and Syria will battle for seventh at 11am.
Bahrain, coached by Tunisian Saber Abdulwahed, are competing in the championship with a squad of Abbas Ehsan, Hassan Al Warqa, Hussain Issa, Mohammed Redha, Mahdi Hussain, Hussain Ali Radhi, Yasser Haji, Mohammed Hassan Nasser, Hussain Ismail, Ali Hussain, Abdulla Al Haiki and Mohammed Al Khabbaz.
