Three Bahraini players on the title-winning youth national volleyball team came away with individual awards at the end of the inaugural West Asia Men’s U19 Volleyball Championship 2023, which concluded Thursday night in Jeddah.

Bahrain captured the coveted gold medals and, in the process, a trio of their top talents were honoured for their respective performances in the competition.

Outside hitter Abbas Ehsan was named the Most Valuable Player, while Hussain Issa came away with the award for Best Outside Hitter.

Mohammed Hassan Nasser completed the national team’s individual awardees by taking home the Best Libero honour.

They were handed their accolades during the tournament’s awards presentation and closing ceremony.

Bahrain Volleyball Association officials Habib Mohammed and Jaafar Ebrahim were both on hand at the event.

The Bahrainis were perfect in the competition, capturing the gold medals in spectacular fashion as they wrapped up their tournament campaign with six wins in six matches, all of which they won in straight sets, thus never conceding a set to their opponents.

Bahrain, coached by Tunisian Saber Abdulwahed, won the championship with a squad of Ehsan, Issa, Nasser, Hassan Al Warqa, Mohammed Redha, Mahdi Hussain, Hussain Ali Radhi, Yasser Haji, Hussain Ismail, Ali Hussain, Abdulla Al Haiki and Mohammed Al Khabbaz.
