Shehab, Al Thawadi clinch doubles title

Fourth seeds Abdul Rahman Shehab and Khalid Al Thawadi clinched the Men’s Super Doubles final title in straight sets against sixth seeds Bader Abdul A’al and Antonio Catito 6-4, 7-6(6) in the latest matches of the 29th GPIC Open Tennis Championships at the Bahrain Tennis Club premises in Juffair. 

In the quarter finals of the Men’s Doubles +45, the biggest shock was the defeat of top seeds Stalin Joseph and Uday Shanbhag and who went 6-1, 6-2 to unseeded Roni Cifra and Leo M.

Second seeds Kamal Khonji and Ali Khonji had no problem in their match as they brushed aside Gerry Toledo and Mike Bernel 6-0, 6-1.

In the Super Singles first round, all four top seeds - Yousif Qaed, Karim Redha, Lars Klaverstijn and Hassan Redha easily won in straight sets to advance to the quarter finals.
