Bahraini cyclist Ahmed Naser and fellow-Victorious Cycling Team member Eusebio Pascual both finished in the top 10 yesterday on the third and penultimate stage of the Tour of Salalah 2023 in Oman.

Naser continued his fine form from the previous day when he won the race’s second stage with a fourth-place finish in yesterday’s 104-kilometre leg, starting in the village of Alhaffa and ending at Darbat. Pascual, meanwhile, claimed 10th overall on the 52-rider classification.

Naser completed the stage not far behind winner Grega Bole of Slovenia, racing for Shabab Al Ahli Cycling Team.

Abdulla Jasim Al Ali from the UAE was the runner-up, while Stefan Verhoeff of Universe Cycling Team completed the overall podium.

Pascual was 10th amongst the same leading group at the finish.

Bahrain have two squads competing in the four-stage race, representing both Victorious and the Bahrain Cycling Academy (BCA). BCA rider Sayed Ahmed Alawi was 14th yesterday while teammates Husain Mohamed and Mansoor Jawad were 20th and 21st, respectively. Mohamed Alqais of Victorious came 28th, teammate Kevin Orlandi from France was 47th and Ali Hassan Saleh of the BCA was 48th.

Following yesterday’s stage results, Ahmed and Pascual were fourth and fifth, respectively, on the race’s general classification.

Naser was also fourth on the points rankings with Pascual in ninth. This year’s Tour of Salalah features four stages, concluding today with the final leg covering 147km from Ain to Ittin. It is an elite men’s road race part of the International Cycling Union (UCI) calendar.
