Alawi in top five on Tour of Salalah final stage

Bahrain national team cyclist Sayed Ahmed Alawi finished in the top five yesterday in the fourth and final stage of the 2023 Tour of Salalah in Oman, while fellow-Bahraini Ahmed Naser took fourth overall on the race’s general classification.
Competing for Bahrain Cycling Academy (BCA), Alawi was amongst the leading group at the finish and the top-ranked Bahraini rider at the end of 147-kilometre leg, which began in Ain Razat and culminated in Ittin.
Naser was 12th representing Victorious Cycling Team, while Mansoor Jawad took 15th for BCA and Eusebio Pascual 26th for Victorious. Amongst the other riders, Mohamed Alqais was 32nd for Victorious, Husain Mohamed 38th for BCA, Ali Hassan Saleh 45th for BCA and Kevin Orlandi 48th for Victorious.
In the final general classification, Naser was fourth and Pascual fifth, while Alawi followed in 15th.
Grega Bole of Shabab Al Ahli Cycling Team was the Tour of Salalah’s overall winner, followed by the UAE’s Abdulla Jasim Al Ali and Kenny Nijssen of Universe Cycling Team.
They pipped Naser and Pascual to the overall podium. Naser also finished fifth in the overall points classification after the four stages, while in the teams’ final ranking, Victorious came fourth while BCA were seventh amongst the 10 squads.
