Bahrain champions Al Najma Club were yesterday drawn in a tough Group A for their title-defence in the 25th Asian Men’s Club League Championship.

The continental competition, under the Asian Handball Federation (AHF), is scheduled to take place from 17 to 26 November in Kuwait.

The draw was conducted last night by the AHF in Kuwait City at Al Qadsia Club, with representatives from the 12 participating teams present.

Najma are in the same pool as Kuwait SC of Kuwait, Al Gharafa of Qatar, Al Khaleej of Saudi Arabia, Al Salah of Palestine and Golden Eagle of India for the event’s preliminary round.

Group B consists of Qadsia, Sai of India, Al Arabi of Qatar, Al Jaish of Iraq, Shabab Haret Saida of Lebanon and Al Sharjah of the UAE.

Further details such as the tournament’s format will be announced in due course.

Earlier this year, Najma won their second Asian clubs title in Isfahan, Iran, adding to their maiden crown in 2017.

Najma claimed the title following a thrilling 31-30 double overtime victory over Al Duhail of Qatar in the final. Najma appeared on the podium for the fifth time in the event.

Along with their two gold medals, they had also claimed the silver medals twice in 2015 and in 2022, and the bronze once in 2001.
