World champion Tazhudinov receives hero’s welcome

Bahrain’s Akhmed Tazhudinov was given a warm reception upon his return to the Kingdom yesterday after being crowned world champion in men’s freestyle wrestling in the 97kg category.
Tazhudinov captured the coveted title at the World Wrestling Championships 2023 held in Belgrade, Serbia. Welcoming him upon his arrival at Bahrain International Airport were General Sports Authority (GSA) vice-president and Bahrain Combat Sports Council chairman His Highness Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Faris Al Kooheji.
HH Shaikh Salman extended to him the greetings of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, GSA president and BOC chief His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
HH Shaikh Salman also conveyed his congratulations to Tazhudinov for his historic world championships gold medal, which also earned him qualification for the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. During the reception, Tazhudinov took part in a ceremonial cutting of the cake alongside officials.
