Muharraq, Manama win in Nasser bin Hamad league openers

Muharraq and Manama were both victorious last night as the new season of the Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League kicked off.
Muharraq posted a hardearned 2-1 win over Hidd, while Manama defeated Al Shabab 2-0.
Yesterday’s games marked the first of three successive evenings of matches in week one to get the 2023/2024 campaign underway.
League action continues tonight with Riffa taking on Al Najma and Busaiteen facing Al Hala.
Then, tomorrow, week one wraps up with defending champions Al Khaldiya in action against Sitra at 7pm.
That same evening, Al Ahli take on East Riffa at a separate location.
All of tomorrow’s and Sunday ’s matches are scheduled for 7pm kick-offs. Khaldiya were crowned champions of the 2022/2023 Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League last May.
They secured their first-ever league title following one of the closest races for the title in recent league history, with Khaldiya finishing just four points clear of the fifth-placed team.
