Evan’s Time in GP2 series

New Zealand’s Mitch Evans driving for Russian Time came in first in the second supporting race yesterday in the GP2 Series in a time of 42 minutes 51.663 seconds at an average speed of 174.3kph over 23 laps at the FIA WEC Bapco 6 Hours of Bahrain at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).

The race is the 10th round of 11 for the current season and featured 24 cars on the grid from 12 teams.

Evans who came third in the first race moved up to second place behind Alex Lynn of Dams on the seventh lap and moved into the lead on the 14th and stayed ahead until the finish.

Second place went to first race winner Stoffel Vandoome of Art Grand Prix (+1.863) behind and Lynn (+17.489) who started on pole had to settle for the third and final podium place.

Fourth place went to Russian driver Sergey Sirotkin for Rapax (+20.1544) with fifth to Italian Rafaelle Marciello (+21.026).

The sixth to eighth positions went to Jordan King (Gbr, Racing Engineering + 21.661), Pierre Gasly (Fra, Dams, +22.857) and Artem Markelov (Rus, Russian Time, +26.686).
