Bahrain continue training gathering

Bahrain’s senior men’s national football team have returned to the pitch for their ongoing training gathering under head coach Juan Antonio Pizzi.

The Bahrainis are coming off a 2-0 victory Thursday night against Kyrgyzstan in an international friendly match played at Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium at Muharraq Club in Arad.

They play another tune-up on Tuesday against the Philippines.

The game is scheduled for a 7pm kick-off at the same venue.

The friendlies are part of the nationals’ preparations for next month’s start to their continental qualification campaign for the FIFA World Cup 2026.

They will also be competing in the next edition of the AFC Asian Cup in Doha in January of next year.

Bahrain went back to training with a 34-player squad, which features Mohammed Abdulwahab, Abdulla Al Hashash, Sayed Mohammed Jaafar, Mohammed Adel, Waleed Al Hayyam, Amine Hasan, Abdulla Al Khalasi, Mohammed Al Hardan, Komail Al Aswad, Ali Madan, Mahdi Humaidan, Abdulla Yusuf, Mohammed Marhoon, Moses Atede, Ahmed Bughammar, Sayed Mahdi Baqer, Sayed Dhiya Saeed, Hussain Al Ekri, Hazza Ali, Mohammed Abdulqayoom, Jassim Al Shaikh, Ali Hassan Saeed, Abdulaziz Khaled, Salem Omar, Hamza Al Juban, Mubarak Mohammed, Ahmed Al Sherooqi, Ebrahim Al Khattal, Ebrahim Luthfallah, Hussain Abdulkareem, Hamad Al Doseri, Salem Hussain, Ebrahim Al Wali and Jassim Khelaif.

The visiting Philippines team comprises Neil Etheridge, Julian Schwarzer, Kevin Ray Mendoza, Jesse Curran, Daisuke Sato, Audie Menzi, Santiago Rublico, Jefferson Tabina, Simone Rota, Enrique Linares, Joshua Grommen, Dennis Villanueva, Kevin Ingreso, Justin Baas, Jhanjhan Melliza, Manuel Ott, Mike Ott, Sandro Reyes, Marwin Angeles, Jose Elmer Porteria, Patrick Reichelt, Bienvenido Maranon, Pocholo Bugas, Jarvey Gayoso and Kenshiro Daniels.

The Filipinos have been on the island since last week and today morning will meet Kyrgyzstan for another friendly game. For the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Bahrain will play directly in the second of five qualification rounds.

They are in a competitive Group H along with the UAE, and either Yemen or Sri Lanka and Nepal or Laos. For the AFC Asian Cup, Bahrain are in Group E in the tournament’s preliminary round along with South Korea, Malaysia and Jordan.
