HH Shaikh Nasser’s children crown HH Shaikh Khalid’s children junior race champions

Team Victorious rider Shahad Waleed yesterday triumphed in the 100-kilometre international qualifying race, organised by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) to commence the 2023-2024 endurance racing season.

The event also featured a local qualifying race and a junior race, and it was held at Bahrain International Endurance Village.

The races took place at night and witnessed wide participation and smooth organisation.

The junior race, spanning over 40km, concluded with a special ceremony where the children of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Honourary President of BREEF, namely HH Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, honoured the children of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Affairs, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, who won first and second places.

HH Shaikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa secured first place in two hours 51 minutes 52 seconds, followed by HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in second in 2:51:53.

Third place was awarded to Khalid Al Ruwaie in 2:51:53.

Additionally, all the other participants in the race were also recognised and honoured for their participation.

The junior race saw good participation, reflecting BREEF’s vision to provide an ideal atmosphere for juniors to build a promising generation capable of carrying the banner of Bahraini endurance in the future.

For Team Victorious, Shahad claimed her win in 3:58:43. Her teammates Salman Isa Radhi and Manal Majid joined her on the podium.

Radhi came second after clocking 5:39:10, while Manal finished third in 5:39:12.

A 100km local race was led by Al Zaeem’s Asim Abdulwahid, who posted a time of 4:16:25.

His teammate Jaber Bader came second with 4:16:26, while Mohammed Isa of Al Ajial Stable finished third in 5:42:59.

In the 80km local race, Yousif Abdulnabi of Al Safinat Stables finished first in 5:30:29.

Husain Yonis of Awal Stables came second with 5:57:49, and Mohammed Yaser of RM Stable was third with 5:59:45.

The races witnessed wide participation, with 157 male and female riders representing various stables featured in the events.

Riders from outside Bahrain also took part, coming from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Syria and Pakistan.
