Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport will be aiming to secure a title double when they compete today and tomorrow in the final round of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship 2023.

2 Seas, co-owned by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa, secured their historic first-ever GT3 Teams title in the previous meeting at Brands Hatch circuit last month, and are now hoping to take the drivers’ crown at the season-finale at Donington Park in the UK.

2 Seas pair James Cottingham and Jonny Adam, behind the wheel of 2 Seas’ #4 Mercedes AMG-GT3 challenger, are currently the leaders for the championship, but Cottingham will be competing this weekend without Adam, who has a commitment in the European Le Mans Series.

2 Seas have called upon factory driver Philip Ellis to partner with Cottingham in the title decider. The weekend’s events kick off at 11.40am today with the first hour-long practice session. Practice two will then be held from 2.45pm, leading up to qualifying, starting at 6pm.

Tomorrow, the race is scheduled for a 3pm start. All times are Bahrain. Cottingham and Adam hold a 13-point lead on the GT3 Drivers’ Championship standings ahead of Darren Leung and Dan Harper of Century Motorsport.

Leung and Harper have the additional challenge of overcoming a 20-second Compensation Time penalty, accrued for winning at Brands Hatch. Also set to compete in Donington are the 2 Seas pair of Ian Loggie and Jules Gounon, driving the team’s #1 Mercedes AMGGT3 contender.

In the British GT’s previous meeting, 2 Seas scored enough points on the GT3 Teams Championship standings to wrap up the title race with a round to spare. They head into the season-finale with 281.5 points, enjoying an insurmountable lead over Century who are second with 149 points.

They secured the crown after their two cars claimed a podium and fourth-place finish in the penultimate round, with Cottingham and Adam finishing third overall after two hours of intense action and despite a 20-second success penalty.

Heading into what has been dubbed as “the Donington Decider”, 2 Seas have won four of the eight races so far this British GT season. Cottingham and Adam claimed three of those triumphs, which included races at Autodromo do Algarve in Portugal in round seven, Oulton Park in round one and at Donington Park in round four. Loggie and Gounon triumphed the other time in the championship’s second round, also at Oulton Park.
