Bahraini boxers win three gold at World Combat Games

The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) received yesterday Bahrain’s men’s and women’s national boxing teams upon their return from Riyadh, where they won five medals, including three gold, at the World Combat Games 2023.
The Bahrainis’ gold medals were claimed by Olympian Danis Latypov in the men’s over-92kg weight class, Azat Makhmetov in the men’s 51kg category, and Maryam Khamis in the women’s 54kg class.
Bahrain also came away with a silver medal, clinched by Shaikh Turki bin Hamad Al Khalifa in the men’s 71kg category; and a bronze medal, won by Ali Jaafar in the men’s 80kg class. In their final bouts, Latypov claimed his gold medal after defeating Sultan Almusaed of Saudi Arabia; Makhmetov won after defeating Mansour Khalifah of Kuwait when the referee stopped their contest in the second round; and Maryam claimed her title after beating Hala Alrashidi of Saudi on points 3-2.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Turki faced Hassan Kaabi of Saudi in the men’s 71kg final, and Jaafar took his bronze after beating Eissa Alkurdi of the UAE on points 5-0 in their bronze medal contest.
