Rizk, Edman win doubles
Kadri Rizk and David Edman won a thrilling three sets Men’s +45 Doubles final with a 6-1, 5-7, 10-4 victory to upset second seeds Kamaland Ali Khonji last night on the penultimate day of the 29th GPIC Open Tennis Championships at the Bahrain Tennis Club premises in Juffair.
The victory for Edman gave him double success as he had earlier beaten Gilbert Sino Cruz to clinch the Men’s Singles title.
On Saturday evening, Hussain Nashaba and Amin Sharif won a thrilling three-setter to win the Men’s Doubles +55 title after they triumphed over David Fletcher and Anthony Rayner in a cliffhanger of a battle 6-4, 4-6, 11-9.
In the Men’s Super Singles, top seed Yousef Qaed was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over fourth seed Hassan Redha and thirdseed Lars Klaverstijn was a 6-4, 7-5 winner over Karim Redha.
The championship concludes today with the Super Singles final at 5.30pm between Qaed and Klaverstijn.
It will be held under the patronage of GPIC President Abdulrahman Jawahery.
