Bahrain’s Dalila triumphs in Chengdu Marathon

Bahraini elite athlete Dalila Abdulkadir Gosa triumphed in the women’s race of the 2023 Chengdu Marathon, held in China.
Dalila completed the 42.2-kilometre distance in two hours 26 minutes 46 seconds, winning with a nine-second cushion ahead of runner-up Shuko Genemo Wote of Ethiopia.
Dalila’s finishing mark was close to her personal best of 2:25:35, which she clocked in 2018 in Japan.
The 25-year-old is an upand-coming distance specialist.
She was a silver-medallist in both the world under-20 championships in 2016 and the world under-18 championships in 2015, while also bagging a bronze medal in the Youth Olympic Games in 2014.
Finishing well behind Dalila and Shuko was Rebecca Kangogo Chesir of Kenya, who had a mark of 2:30:17.
