BKS gears up for international badminton tournament

The Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) announced that it will organise its international badminton tournament from November 21 to 26.

The Al Sharif Group Bahrain International Challenge 2023 will be conducted under the patronage of Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF).

The event is a Level 3 sanctioned tournament under the Badminton Asia Confederation and attracts players from the top 50 world rankings regularly.

Nearly 250 players from 32 different countries have registered for the tournament.

The Tournament Referee will be India’s Gaurav Khanna, a senior Badminton World Federation accredited referee. He is also the recipient of Dhronacharya Award, India’s highest award for coaches.

The event is organised by BKS led by its President, PV Radhakrishna Pillai and General Secretary Vargheese Karakkal.

This years tournament sees some exciting talent from around the world. Mens Single top seeds are both from Spain, Pablo Abian and Luis Enrique ranked 65 and 66 in the world respectively.

Indian Sankar Subramanian in third seed will be the crowd favourite.

The Bahraini Number 1 Adnan Ebrahim also finds a spot in the qualifying rounds Womens singles top seed is the returning champion Malavika Bansod and Jenira Stadelmann from Switzerland.

Mens Doubles sees for the first time an Irish top seed in Paul Reynolds and Joshua Magee and sees diverse entries from China, Algeria, Japan, Sri Lanka and many more.

Womens Double top seeds are Bulgarian Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva along the Chinese pair of Zi Meng Wang and Key un Ding
