Sitra book place in play-off

Sitra booked their place in the play-off game for a quarter-final spot in this year’s Khalifa bin Salman Cup basketball tournament.
Sitra claimed the spot after defeating Isa Town 88-68 in their preliminary round contest at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam.
Sitra now take on Nuwaidrat for a spot in the last eight. Both teams are looking to join the seven already-qualified sides, including Khalifa bin Salman Cup holders Manama, Muharraq, Al Ahli, Al Ettihad, Al Najma, Bahrain Club and Al Hala.
Sitra led 21-16 at the end of the first quarter and stayed 34-32 ahead at the half. In the third, they began to pull away and headed into the final period with a 58-51 advantage.
They then closed the game out strong, outscoring Isa Town 30-17 in the fourth and enjoying a biggest lead of 22 points.
Ali Eid paced Sitra with 26 points while Abbas Fadhel Jasim had 15 and Ebrahim Murad Ebrahim scored 13.
Hussain Mahdi was Isa Town’s top scorer with 19 points, while Abdulla Ali came off the bench to contribute 18.
