Busaiteen and Al Ettihad last night marched through to the quarterfinals of the 2023/2024 His Majesty the King’s Cup football tournament. Busaiteen made it through with a hard-earned 1-0 victory over Sitra, while Ettihad won a hugely exciting penalty shootout 8-7 against Al Shabab after their round-of-16 clash was deadlocked at 2-2 at the end of regular time.

Following the results, Busaiteen have set up a head-to-head with Al Ahli, who were 4-0 winners over Um Al Hassam in this same stage. Ettihad, on the other hand, will next take on defending league champions Al Khaldiya in the round of eight. Khaldiya secured their place after eliminating last year’s His Majesty the King’s Cup winners, Al Hala, 3-1.

Tonight, the competition’s quarter-final line-up will be complete with the winners of the matches between Hidd and Al Ettifaq and East Riffa with Manama. Both contests are scheduled for 7 p.m. kick-offs. The HM the King’s Cup is the richest football competition in the Kingdom, with the winners taking home BD100,000 in prize money and BD50,000 going to the runners-up.
