Under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Noora bint Hamad Al Khalifa, Captain of Al Fursan Team, the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF) organised the Best Horse Condition Award for the glorious National Day Endurance Ride Championship.

The event took place concurrently with the Kingdom’s celebrations of the National Day and the anniversary of His Majesty the King’s Accession to the Throne. The race was held at the Bahrain International Endurance Village, covering 120 km local race.

Team Victorious won the award through Isa Al Anzi whose horse Birandiana was deemed the fittest horse among the other participants, thus, was given the accolade. The special committee responsible for selecting the best horse condition oversaw the criteria for the award, which were met by the winning horse.

The team was crowned by Ghaleb Al Alawi, Secretary of BREEF, Dr Khaled Ahmed Hassan, Assistant Secretary of BREEF, who is also the Manager of the Royal Endurance Team, and Tawfiq Al Salehi, Director of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa Media Office and Information Centre and the Head of Media, Marketing, and Public Relations Committee of BREEF.

The award is handed out based on several criteria, including heart rate, cooling time, dehydration rate, intestinal movement, and evaluation of appearance. These evaluations are performed in the first hour after the horse’s arrival, considering the first-place horse and the subsequent positions. Any horse that does not meet the required health standards after a one-hour rest is disqualified.
