HH Shaikh Khalid cups headline today's card at REHC

Three cups in honour of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa will be up for the taking today in an eightrace card at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
This includes the feature event of the day, set for race six with a BD10,000 total prize. Also to be won today are the National Day Cup, sponsored by the Ministry of Information and offering a BD10,000 prize, as well as cups named after the sons of HH Shaikh Khalid, the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority president and Bahrain Olympic Committee chief.
The day’s feature event will be held over eight furlongs for imported horses. Seven are entered, representing owners Al Mohamediya Racing, Al Adiyat Racing, Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim and Aqeel Hassan Abdulrahim.
Al Mohamediya are represented by the trio of The Covex Kid, trained by Fawzi Nass and to be ridden by Jason Watson; Bond’s Boy, trained by Osama Hashim and to be ridden by Stephane Ladjadj, and Ahdab, trained by Fawzi Nass and to be saddled by Husain Makki.
Byline, trained by AM Smith and to be ridden by Gerald Mosse, will be racing for Al Adiyat, while Mehmento is competing for Al Afoo, with Soufiane Saadi in the saddle and being trained by Mohammed Hasan.
Completing the field are Ecosystem, representing Mohammed Khalid Abdulrahim, Haider Ebrahim and Kieran Shoemark; and Massaman, competing for Aqeel Hassan Abdulrahim, Jaber Ramadhan and Martin Seidl.
The other HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cups are in race one and race seven. The first is a WAHO event over eight furlongs with a BD3,000 prize, while the day’s penultimate race is over a six-furlong straight with BD5,000 in prize money.
The National Day Cup will be a 12-furlong event for imported horses. Five are entered, namely Zagato for Mohamediya, Rayounpour for Adiyat, Tawaareq for Victorious, Glen Savage for M and E Racing, and Wait Forever for Al Hassanain Racing.
Meanwhile, the day’s second race will be for the HH Shaikh Faisal bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, the third for the HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, the fourth for the HH Shaikh Nasser bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, and the fifth for the HH Shaikh Salman bin Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup. All are welcome to attend today’s races at REHC.
