BRAVE Combat Federation has its first completely home-made champion of the world.
After spending his entire professional career with the most global organization in the world, Nkosi Ndebele put on the performance of a lifetime to completely outclass Jose ‘’Shorty’’ Torres in the rematch of the year and take the BRAVE CF Bantamweight World title from his rival.
It was the fulfilment of a lifetime of work for Ndebele, who has set his eyes on a world title since he was 16 years old. Coming from the tough streets of Soweto, South Africa, he has risen above his circumstances to become one of the best fighters in the world.
Ndebele started his amateur career in South Africa and then went on to claim gold in the IMMAF African Championships.
With BRAVE Combat Federation becoming the first—and thus far only—global organization to host an event in the African continent, he was signed on to make his professional debut in BRAVE CF’s second African show and first-ever South African event, BRAVE CF 19.
Ndebele had a tall order on his debut, taking on 14-2 Ahmed Farress, but he thoroughly justified his nickname ‘’The Future’’ by TKO’ing his Egyptian counterpart and sending a message to the entire Bantamweight division.
However, eager to explore new possibilities early in his pro career, Nkosi had his next fight at Featherweight.
Against jiu-jitsu black belt Caio Gregorio in Brazil, Ndebele had success early on but ended up losing by stoppage.
He then decided to stay at Bantamweight, and went on an incredible run, beating five opponents in a row, claiming wins in his native South Africa, Bahrain, and Indonesia.
That run landed him a title shot against Jose ‘’Shorty’’ Torres for the vacant 135-pound world title.
The bout took place at 2600m altitude in Bogota, Colombia, as part of the first Latin-American BRAVE International Combat Week.
In a hotly-contested match, Torres took home the split decision – and the world title.
The furor from the decision and the fans standing up to Nkosi made BRAVE CF book an immediate rematch.
Ndebele moved his camp to Bali, Indonesia for the first time, and made the right adjustments to completely outclass the champion, earn the world title and become forever the first completely homemade BRAVE CF champion of the world.
