Al Hala cruised to a 90-70 victory over Sitra last night in their week seven game of the 2023/2024 Zain Bahrain Basketball League.

Hala led for virtually the entire game and gradually extended their advantage en route to the final 20-point winning margin.

The victors powered ahead 24-19 after the first period and then stretched their lead to 45- 36 at the half.

In the third, Hala continued their strong play and outscored Sitra by 10 to go up 67-48 heading into the final canto.

There, baskets from Abdulqader Thani—first a free-throw and then a three-pointer—gave them their biggest lead of 29 twice with less than five minutes remaining.

American professional Alex Young spearheaded Hala with 22 points, while Hassan Abbas added 18 and Thani finished with 14 off the bench.

Ebrahim Murad Ebrahim scored 21 to pace Sitra, who were once again playing without a foreign import, while Abbas Fadhel Jasim chipped in with 13 in the loss.

With the result, Hala improved to a 5-2 win-loss record, going to 12 points as joint-leaders atop the league standings with defending champions Manama and Al Ahli.

Sitra, on the other hand, suffered their seventh defeat and remained as one of two teams that are still winless so far this season.

League action continues tonight with Al Najma and Samaheej facing off at 5.30pm followed by Issa Town playing Nuwaidrat at 7.30pm.

Tomorrow, Muharraq go up against Bahrain Club to wrap up this week’s play.
