International athlete Sami Ghazwan continued to shine in the Saudi Arabia International Showjumping Championship for the Single Star category, capturing his fourth title in the championship by once again securing first place in the widely contested event.
The Bahraini athlete delivered a remarkable performance in the jumping and speed competition, which featured 47 athletes. He quickly took the lead after successfully clearing all the obstacles in a record-breaking time of 53.88 seconds with his horse Azur Rommel.
All international participants fought to beat Ghazwan’s time but none were able to surpass it. Second place went to Saudi athlete Qarout Al Faisal, who posted a time of 57.02 seconds, while third place was claimed by Saudi athlete and 2023 Asian Team Champion Mashari Al Harbi (57.15 seconds).
Qatari athlete and participant in the Longines World Championships, Rashed Al Marri, secured fourth place with a time of 57.32 seconds. Sami Ghazwan’s victory marked his fourth championship title, making him the first Arab athlete to achieve such a feat in the Saudi Arabia International Showjumping Championship.
The event, held at the Saudi Jumping Arena, saw the participation of 17 countries and was organised under the supervision of the International Equestrian Federation. Commenting on his victory, Ghazwan expressed his happiness and pride in this historic achievement, not only for himself but also for the Kingdom of Bahrain, as it coincided with the Kingdom’s National Day, which was celebrated on December 16th.
