Dar Kulaib survive tough Al Nasser challenge

Defending champions Dar Kulaib survived a tough challenge from Al Nasser in their second week match of the Top Six round in the 2023/2024 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League.
The title holders were taken to the maximum in the clash and needed to fight back from an early deficit to win with a final score 3-2 (22-25, 25-18, 25-16, 32-34, 15-10) score line. Dar Kulaib’s Bahrain national team star Mohammed Yaqoob finished as the game’s top performer with a season-high 34 points, six of which came defensively with blocks.
Mahmoud Abdulwahed added 23 points, while Hassan Alaiwi had 16 and Abdulla Mohammed finished with eight. Dar Kulaib maintained their unbeaten record after just two games in this stage of the competition, following their previous triumph against Al Najma.
For a battling Nasser, Ebrahim Mohammed finished with 18 points as their leading scorer. Yousif Ali added 14 while Mohammed Omar chipped in with 10. Nasser suffered their second successive defeat. They lost their opening Top Six encounter against Nabih Saleh.
Action in the Top Six continues on Saturday and Sunday with the third matchday. On Saturday, Nasser are back on the playing court when they take on Al Ahli, as are Dar Kulaib who will be going up against Muharraq.
On Sunday, Nabih Saleh face Najma in the evening’s lone fixture. The Top Six of the league is being held in a double round-robin. The first round continues until the first week of next month, with the second round still to be scheduled by the Bahrain Volleyball Association.
