The Bahrain National Cycling Team concluded its participation in the Arab Road Cycling Championship through its last participation in the general race competitions for the junior category yesterday. 36 cyclists participated in the junior event which covered a distance of 124 kilometres.

The Arab Cycling Federation organised the event in Riyadh in cooperation with the Arab Federation and under the supervision of the International Cycling Union (UCI) from 15 to 23 December. 406 male and female players representing 12 countries, namely Bahrain, UAE, Algeria, Iraq, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Oman, Qatar, Libya, Egypt and Saudi Arabia participated in the championship. The Bahraini team was represented in the final race of the championship by juniors Ahmed Hassan and Aqeel Mohammed Thamer.

The race witnessed volatile weather and strong winds laden with dust, which had repercussions on the performance of the Bahraini team players as they were in direct confrontation with large and complete groups of riders for the rest of the teams, despite all the technical conditions.

Due to the harsh weather, the Bahraini cyclist Ahmed Hussein was able to finish the race in a time of 3.39.08.56 hours and an average speed of 33.95 kilometres per hour. The other Bahraini cyclist Aqeel Thamer was forced to withdraw from the race along with 14 competitors who were unable to complete the race.
