Mlolshan 1865, Wahaaj lift cups at REHC

Mlolshan 1865 and Wahaaj hoisted the two cups up for the taking yesterday at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir. Mlolshan 1865 won the Al Sakhir Cup, while Wahaaj lifted the Late S Sharaf Alalawi Cup.

The eight-race meeting was the 12th of the national horseracing season at REHC. Mlolshan 1865 came away with the Al Sakhir Cup in the day’s first race, held over six furlongs with BD1,500 in prize money.

The five-year-old was competing for owners Victorious and trainer Yousif Taher, while ridden by Abdulrahim Jasim. Musannan 1881 was the runner-up for Al Khaldiya, Fawzi Nass and Rosie Jessop; while Musannan M908 came third for Al Mohamediya Racing, Ali Abdulmajeed and Anas Al Siyabi.

In the day’s third race for the Late S Sharaf Alalawi Cup, held over a six-furlong straight with a BD3,000 prize, Wahaaj triumphed for owner Zahraa Hasan Husain Al Jaboori, trainer Yousif Alboainain and jockey Mohammed Jamil.

Astara was the runner-up for His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Haider Ebrahim and Ahmed Maki. The Boy Wonder came third for M and E Racing, AM Smith and Hussain Mohamed.

Elsewhere yesterday, Waqiaah won in race two for Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Hasan and Anas Al Siyabi; Indispensable claimed race four also for Al Afoo and Hasan, with Martin Seidl in the saddle; Bleak clinched race five for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Fawzi Nass and Stephane Ladjadj; Musique de la Nuit won the sixth race for Victorious, AM Smith and Mathieu Pelletan; Mugheerah triumphed in race seven for Al Nayefaat, Abdulla Kuwaiti and Abdulrahim Jasim; and Elwasme took the race eight win for Al Mohamediya Racing, Ali Abdulmajeed and Hector Crouch.
