Muharraq registered a crucial four-set victory over Al Nasser last night in their fourth-week contest of the Top Six round in the 2023/2024 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League.
The victors needed to battle back from a set down and overcome a spirited challenge from their rivals to come away with the 3-1 (21-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-19) triumph.
Spearheading Muharraq in the match were Italian-Argentinian professional Tomas Gallo, along with top Bahraini players Ali Al Sairafi, Majeed Mohammed, Mahmood Al Afia,
Sayed Ali Mohammed and Ahmed Issa. Nasser tried to rally behind their top stars Ebrahim Mohammed, Yousif Ali, and Mohammed Omar, but could not build on the strong start. The result was only the second victory for Muharraq in this stage of the league.
Nasser, on the other hand, remained winless after four tries. League action continues tonight with defending champions Dar Kulaib facing off with Nabih Saleh. Dar Kulaib currently boast an unbeaten record in three outings in the Top Six, while Nabih Saleh have one win from their three fixtures to date.
The Top Six of the league is being held in a double round-robin. The first round continues until the first week of next month, with the second round following soon after.
