Al Ahli and Manama last night booked their berths in the semi-finals of the 2023/2024 His Majesty the King’s Cup— the richest football tournament in Bahrain.
Ahli made it through after defeating Busaiteen 1-0, while Manama marched forward with a 2-0 win against Al Ittifiaq. Both teams are now set to face one another in the final four, which has yet to be scheduled by the Bahrain Football Association.
The other semis contest is a titanic affair between powerhouses Al Khaldiya and Muharraq. Khaldiya secured their place with a 4-0 win against Al Ettihad, while Muharraq edged past Riffa 5-4 on penalties, with the game deadlocked at 1-1 at the end of regular time.
Jamal Rashid scored the match’s lone goal in Ahli’s triumph against Busaiteen last night. He was on target in the third minute, and Ahli were able to hold on the rest of the way. In Manama’s win, Facundo Agustin Tobares scored a brace to help propel his team to the next stage.
He first found the net in the 33rd minute, and then completed his double in the 49th. The HM the King’s Cup is the richest football competition in the Kingdom, with the winners set to take home BD100,000 in prize money and BD50,000 going to the runners-up.
