Manama set for Ettihad clash in Khalifa bin Salman Cup quarters

Holders Manama will take on Al Ettihad in the quarter-finals of this year’s Khalifa bin Salman Cup.

The draw ceremony for the prestigious annual basketball tournament was held last night at Zain Basketball Arena in Um Al Hassam. Bahrain Olympic Committee vice-president His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa was in attendance, along with Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) president Captain Waleed Al Alawi and other high-ranking officials.

Manama were drawn against Ettihad in the single-elimination round.

Other match-ups in the top eight feature Al Hala going up against Bahrain Club, with the winners of that game taking on the victors between Manama and Ettihad in the semi-finals. Also in the round of eight, Muharraq will face off with Al Najma and Al Ahli will take on Nuwaidrat.

The teams that triumph in those two games will square off in the last four.

The two semis match-ups will be held in best-of-three format, while the ensuing title-decider will be a single game.

The game schedule for the competition has yet to be released by the BBA. Manama won last year’s Khalifa bin Salman Cup after defeating Muharraq 75-72 in the final.

The result marked the second time Manama won the prestigious trophy. Their first was in the 2017/2018 season.
