Bahrain suffered a disappointing 0-3 defeat to African side Angola last night in an informal training match played at Dubai Police Club Stadium in the UAE.
The tune-up was the second successive loss for the Bahrainis in friendlies played in the Emirates as part of their preparations for the highly anticipated AFC Asian Cup, which kicks off in Doha tomorrow and continues until 10 February.
They had previously also lost to Australia, and the nationals failed to score in both matches.
Last night’s game marked the end of the Bahrainis’ training camp in Dubai where they were having their final lead-up to the AFC Asian Cup.
They are now scheduled to fly to the Qatari capital today. Bahrain are in Group E for the competition’s preliminary round along with South Korea, Malaysia and Jordan.
The nationals kick off their campaign against the South Koreans on Monday at 2.30pm, and then take on their Malaysian counterparts on 20 January at 5.30pm.
They complete the preliminaries against Jordan on 25 January at 2.30pm. All times are Bahrain.
