Bahrain champions Manama powered to a resounding 102- 82 victory over Kazma of Kuwait last night in their Gulf sub-zone game in the 2023/2024 FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL), played in Kuwait City.
Manama used a decisive 12-1 run midway through the fourth quarter to overturn a two-point deficit and take control of the contest for good.
They led by as many as their final winning margin of 20 en route to the final whistle. American professional Travin Thibodeaux poured in 34 points and took down 11 rebounds to finish as the Bahrainis’ leading scorer, while Sir’Dominic Pointer also had a double-double with 20 markers and 12 boards.
Cameron Clark finished with 13 and Ali Hussain chipped in with 12 points.
Manama claimed their fourth straight win as they stayed undefeated in Group B of the tournament’s preliminary round. Manama are scheduled to return to action on February 5 against Al Shamal of Qatr.
That game will be played at Al Gharafa Sports Club in Doha and it will be the Bahrainis’ penultimate fixture of this phase.
They close out their group schedule on February 13 against Shabab Al Ahli Dubai of the UAE at home.
Manama are one of two Bahraini clubs in this season’s FIBA WASL competition.
The other are Muharraq in Group A. At the end of the double round-robin, the top seeds from each pool qualify directly to the best-of-three semi-finals.
The second and third-ranked teams will play for the other final four berths, also in a best-of-three.
