Wowzers lifts supreme council cup

Wowzers triumphed to lift The Supreme Council for Women Cup for Al Mohamediya Racing yesterday at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.
The Fawzi Nass-trained, fiveyear-old gelding took first place in the eight-furlong, BD5,000 event with jockey Jason Watson in the saddle.
Wowzers was followed by Gumais in second place while Bond’s Boy came third to complete a top three for Al Mohamediya.
Gumais, also trained by Nass, was ridden by Hector Crouch, while Bond’s Boy, trained by Osama Hashim, was saddled by Hussain Asghar.
Five other trophies were up for the taking yesterday in the 18th meeting of the 2023/2024 REHC season.
Elwasme and Stylish won the two Bahrain Jewellery Centre Cups. Elwasme won in the eighth and final event, held over 11 furlongs with a BD3,000 total prize.
The four-year-old gelding was competing for Al Mohamediya, trainer Ali Abdulmajeed and jockey Hector Crouch.
Apres Dark came second for HBR Racing, Khalid Al Khatri and Ebrahim Nader; while We Could Be Heroes came third for the Al Mohamediya-Nass-Watson connections.
Stylish triumphed in the day’s fifth race, held over a six-furlong straight, also with BD3,000 in winnings.
Competing for Victorious and AM Smith, the five-year-old mare was ridden by jockey Edinson Rodriguez.
Uptoyouordowntome was the runner-up for M and E Racing, AM Smith and Andrew Elliott, while Waqiaah came third for Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Hasan and Soufiane Saadi.
Two Porsche Cups were hoisted yesterday by Swift Asset and Alabrar. Swift Asset claimed the Porsche Cup in race seven.
The four-year-old gelding took the five-furlong, BD3,000 sprint for owner Shaikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, trainer Jaber Ramadhan and jockey Abdulrahim Jasim.
Anann came second for Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Hasan and Soufiane Saadi.
Fleet Admiral was third for Abdulla Fawzi Nass, Fawzi Nass and Husain Makki.
Alabrar triumphed in the sixth race, held over a six-furlong straight with BD2,000 in winnings.
The seven-year-old gelding took the victory for Al Sairafi Syndicate and Osama Hashim, with Abdulla Faisal in the saddle.
Rosa Mystica was second for Al Afoo Racing, Jaber Ramadhan and Mathieu Pelletan, while Talha came third for Al Mohamediya, Osama Hashim and Hector Crouch.
The other trophy of the day was The Saks Fifth Avenue Cup in race two, held over seven furlongs with a BD2,000 prize. It was won by Jbarah for Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Hasan and Soufiane Saadi.
Sakhr was second for HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, Haider Ebrahim and Abdulla Faisal, while Sinatra was third for L&L Racing, AM Smith and Mia Childs.
Elsewhere yesterday Zafarani won the fourth race for local breeds competing for Al Mohamediya, Nass and Crouch; while Tuwaisan 1844 claimed the WAHO first event for Al Riffa, Yousif Al Boainain and Abdulla Faisal.
