Al Najma secured their berth in the Golden Square semi-finals of the 2023/2024 Isa bin Rashid Bahrain Volleyball League last night.

Najma defeated Al Nasser in straight sets in both teams’ concluding game of the Top Six round.

The victors were in control for the entire contest and did well to close things out with the 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-18) score line.

Spearheading Najma in their win last night were Swedish import Jacob Link, who supplied the match-winning spike, and top Bahraini talents Fadhel Abbas, Hassan Dhahi, Hussain Mahdi and Mahmood Hassa, among others.

For Nasser, Ebrahim Mohammed, Yousef Khaled, Mohammed Omar, and recently signed import Pelegrin Vargas from Puerto Rico were their top performers.

With the result, Najma claimed their third successive victory and ended the Top Six round with five wins and five losses in their 10 games, putting them in third place.

Nasser, on the other hand, suffered their eighth loss as they were only able to claim two wins and finished in last place.

The Top Six wraps up tonight with defending champions and table-toppers Dar Kulaib facing chief title rivals Al Ahli at 6.30pm.

The game will be held at Isa bin Rashid Arena at the Bahrain Volleyball Association headquarters in Isa Sports City in Riffa.

Dar Kulaib head into the contest having won eight of their nine games so far, while Ahli have claimed six to rank second on the standings.

The two Golden Square semi-finals series will be played in best-of-three format.
